Choosing Correct Radiator Size

I am about to buy a new radiator, but somewhat confused which size I need.

There are two sizes available for my 2003 4.7 engine: 515 cm high core and 545 cm high core.

I measured the core to my best ability today and came up with 540 mm height. While it does sorta implies that my size is 545, I am not sure if I measured it correctly.

Is there any way to check the radiator part number against the VIN and be absolutely certain about what I need?

Thanks

You can get a print out from Jeep with your vin, also give them a call, Im sure they would be able to assist.

Ok. I think I had this one figured out.

The measrutrments of the core should be taken not including the upper and lower ribs. Also, the 515 and 545mm rads are slightly different. The distance between the filler neck and fan mount should be 22 mm on 515mm rad and the filler neck is a bit off center in relation to the fan mount.

As my radiator developed a leak and needs to be replaced, I figured I would replace few other wear and tear items while the whole thing is apart. So far I came up with this list.
Any suggestions or additions?

Goodyear 4060875 Gatorback Poly-V Belts
$26.57

Goodyear 62316 SAE 20R4 Molded Radiator Hose
$12.61

Stant 10334 Lev-R-Vent Radiator Cap - 18 PSI
$5.97

ACDelco 252-813 Professional Water Pump
$43.41

Motorad 7420-195 Failsafe Thermostat
$17.56

Mishimoto R2336 4.7L OEM Replacement Radiator for Jeep Grand Cherokee
$146.22

With shipping and crappy US exchange rate it comes down to about $400 AUD.

The basic 1-2 year warranty ebay radiator would cost me about $180 anyway. The Mishimoto rad has a lifetime warranty and generally described as a superior product. So I guess the 400 pricetag is not too terrible everything else considered.

Personally I would buy the water pump and radiator local, shipping can cause fractures or cracks, plus warrenties usually don't go overseas.

Yeah. I guess it is something to consider. Although, a water pump damaged in shipping is a bit of a stretch.

Well timed post - I'm still deciding what I'm going to do with mine.

Out of interest (and a laugh) I called the jeep dealer a few days ago $800 OEM
Red Devil quoted $350 - 400 depending on the type (I'm assuming the height).
AFAIK they are a "chinese" radiator, but I guess they work ok, no use having cars come back under warranty.
I'd love just some schmick bolt in Alloy job *sigh*.

I'm going to see what my options are with regard to disconnecting the power steering pump driven fan, and having decent after market one to replace it. maybe in the not too distant future.

I had a 16" thermo fan on an old commodore V8, it would switch on for about 6 seconds, sound like a hurricane but man did it suck some serious air.
