front wheel bearings query Hi all, looks like i need new front wheel bearings. Looking online there are lots of hubs. Any reason to change whole hub instead of just bearings?

The JK has a "Unit bearing" which includes the hub. As its a "sealed" assembly you have to change the whole thing.

As MM said, they are a sealed unit. No disassembly, no maintenance. Just replace.
I got mine from Rockauto recently. They came with the wheel speed sensors included. It was a very tight fit to get the longer ones I have fitted into them. But I guess it means they are less likely to get water into the tone gear that way. :) |
Never seen a replacement come without the WSS....( but anythings possible ) as they frequently get eaten when the bearing starts to get loose.
One brand I struck was actually a different diameter sensor which meant you HAD to use it - you had to fight with the plug/socket on the back of the tower - yuck ! If you've caught the bearing before it eats the sensor just use the old sensor... saves a LOT of dicking around. |
Thanks clears thing up
