ZJ Tie rod ends

Whilst sitting around bored in Hong Kong I been digging around this forum and elsewhere for tips and tricks. Tie rods ends seem to be a common problem.

I found this site talking about using heavier ZJ bits on a TJ http://www.stu-offroad.com/steering/zjtie/tierod-1.htm

Curious as to the cost of the bits I did a search on Ebay the ZJ parts are listed as the same as TJ. On the website above the ZJ items are a lot heavier than the TJ.

Is this a RHD versus LHD thing?

No, it's a V8 vrs a 6 cylinder........... Assuming the differences lay in that area regarding the V8 steering set up. Many more options available in the USA.

So it is a viable upgrade, using stock parts.

I been reading all the issues in here regarding steering joints wear, so have spent the last few days trawling the net. Hopefully I can do an assessment of mine on Monday

I looked for it last year for my TJ, the issue is not enough space around the diff to flip LHD kit to use in RHD application. I actually went with Crown Automotive HDSTRGCR3 Heavy Duty Steering Kit from Quadratec.com

Fitted perfectly and much beefier than stock.
