Leaking rear diff So I was walking back to my car after work the other day and noticed a wet spot on the side of the fuel tank skid and investigated further to see that it was diff oil leaking out the top of the breather. I am away till next weekend so just wanted some ideas. Oil is fairly fresh, can't figure out what's happening. Thanks for any help

try looking to see if the vent pipe is on and is not split.

Have you just installed an ARB Airlocker , or have an old one in there?

Is the vent pipe just the part at the top of the breather? And no haven't opened it since about 12 months ago when I changed the oil, it's all stock inside

high oil level with aftermarket diff hat puts oil level up to axle. When the axle rotates it slings oil into the fitting causing it to not vent. Soon after it will suck air in through the axle seals and pump oil out through the breather tube. You may have to pull your drums off to check axle seals.
If this is the case, remove vent fitting from diff tube. Grind it down to add clearance away from the axle. Replace axle seals, lower oil level. Use compressed air to clear the vent hose. |
all diffs out of any car need to be checked on LEVEL ground .......as far as I know , so if you have over filled it , the excess oil has to go somewhere . oil expands when hot. MidnightRiders is correct , if you have overfilled it ,

I have been driving it for over a year since changing last time and it's only just started leaking so not sure that's it, but I'll pull the drums and check the seals
