My second attempt at knife making

I like making things and I recently stumbled across a few knife making videos on YouTube which has got me hooked. Thought I'd put a pic up of my second knife using only very basic tools.

Who else makes knives or has made a knife before?

That's an awesome piece of gear, mate.
How long did it take to produce?

It's good fun but a lot of work with the basic tools. I've made a few knives but they are not of a great quality. Good steel good edge but look like shite. No worries beating them around though.

Probably about 8 hours once you add it all together. There's a few good vids by Trollsky on youtube that show the process.

Yes agreed it's not as fancy as a bought knife, but I can say that I made it. Like cars I guess! A good bit of fun

I remember when at school we used to use the broken electric hacksaw blade to make knives. The blades were about 3cm wide and prob 2mm thick. The original cutting edge made a good back side for fishing knives! They were strong yet flexible and held an edge forever.

My daughters mother Hubby makes knives from files. He is very skilled at it and uses a forge to get them hard after softening the file in a fire.
