Commander XH CRD Turbo Replacement Hi all, so the orange seal on my air intake went, got sucked through the turbo and has damaged the blades. The turbo's still running now I've replaced the intake but obviously will be unbalanced and probably die for good soon. Only problem is I can't find a matching part number. Even Garrett don't list the exact one. Mine says A6420900290, with the Garrett P/N as 757608-0001 anyone know the replacement P/N, I'm presuming it's been replaced with a slightly different unit.
Thanks all. |
The turbo is a Garret "GTB2260VK"

So this morning my jeep went into limp mode after reading code with scan tool it came up with air leak. On inspection of my aftermarket afe air filter it appears it has failed, particles have been sucked through and destroyed the fins on compress fan. i can get second turbo for $500 as is where is, new from jeep for $2200 or maybe rebuild kit? Turbo look relatively easy to remove Jeep tells me that that you have to drop gearbox and can be 10-16hr job..... I'm guessing it must be reasonably hard to remove if valpacer sent his to the shop. Thoughts on which way I should go with replacing??? |
here is an option

I just hope that all the bolts will come undone 👍 |

but wouldn't be any easier than lying on top of the engine for three hours in your garage. I removed the bonnet latch and laid a piece chipboard across the top of my engine. Was way more comfortable. Some of the bolts are very difficult to reach. Soak them overnight with a good quality lube OR loosen them whilst their hot  (yeah probably not) Removing the cooling system hoses from around the back of the engine makes a lot more room too. Also make sure you've got good quality torx sockets  Not a difficult job but physically demanding Best of luck |

Correct, it was 'updated' with a new part number. From memory the electronic side of the variable vane system was improved to reduce failure rates. Give Garrett and call and have a chat to them. |
