4WE indicator lights

Hi all, first post. I've had a 2005 Cherokee, 3.7L petrol for a few months. We returned from a nice trip yesterday having used the 4WD in Full time mode high range only and then back to 2WD for the highway home.

At no point have any Full Time or Part Time lights appeared on the dash whilst using the 4WD.

Last week when we drove off the beach and were still in Part Time 4WD and turned onto the highway we experienced the hopping sensation and quickly returned to 2WD with no problems.

Today when the ignition is switched on the Part Time light is on whilst the lever is full forward in the 2WD position. When I lift it to Part Time and Full Time it flicks between the two but the opposite way round to the position of the lever but the light remains on in 2WD.

Turning in a tight circle on tarmac in both lever in Part Time position and 2WD position with light still showing Part Time there is no hopping.

Is the 4WD system broken? Any way I can check?

Many thanks.

Firstly, this is not an emergency.
You will get more responses if you post in the KJ section as that is the jeep you have.
I have had a similar problem to you. When in 2wd, the part time light is on, in part time the the full time light is on.
I believe it is an adjustment needed on the selection switch.
Its too cold to be under the jeep to fix it.
Nothing wrong with the different modes, just the indication switch.
I suspect the same applies to your issue.
