CRD Clutch replacement 2010 JKU

Doesn’t seem to be any recent posts here regarding the CRD clutch. Mine lost drive today and I’m urgently looking for a replacement kit. Would appreciate any comments from those who have changed from the original DMF to a solid flywheel. General 4wd wisdom suggests an increase in vibration and/or noise with an SMF. Is the Wrangler experience (going to SMF) something to worry about? Does anyone have recommendations about clutch brands/types to use or avoid? My CRD has been tuned and I’m looking for a heavy duty clutch, not OEM.
Thanks in anticipation

How many KM's have you got on the clutch ?

CRD Cltch replacement 2010 JKU

JKU has only 148,000km.

Lightly used every few days around outer suburbs of Melbourne, maybe 4 or 5 camping/4wd trips in VHC each year and try to get in an outback touring trip each year.

It’s done some big outback trips including
- 2013 Simpson Desert
- 2014 Central Oz and Oodnadatta Tk towing a camper trailer
- 2017 Melb to Darwin via Alice Springs, then Kimberley (via Gibb R R) to Perth and back via SA (17,000km trip)
- 2021 outback QLD and Fraser Island (between Covid lockdowns in Vic).

Has been completely reliable with no indication/warning of clutch or driveline problems. Went from driving perfectly to sudden driveline slip to no drive whatsoever in the space of 2km.

Current best guess is that the Dual Mass Flywheel has pooped itself, rather than the actual clutch components. Will know for sure when it comes out on 17 December. Have decided to install a solid flywheel to eliminate a possible DMF failure in the middle of nowhere sometime in the future.

Not a great deal of mileage
I know of a couple of JK had theirs changed at 225,000KM and one at 257,000KM and reportedly still on original cam belt :o
Hope mine lasts as long.
But that is here in England so maybe all the Australian heat takes it toll.

There’s quite a few threads on this forum around CRD JK clutches.

Thanks Fishframe for those links. I had seen those but as they were 6 or more years ago, when NPC seemed to be just coming on board, I was wondering if anyone had more recent experience particularly as there are other SMF and clutch options these days.
