Help with WG wiring diagram
 

I need help understanding the wiring diagram notations for a WG 2.7 CRD.

What does the notation Y42 20 OR/DB mean ? A 20 gauge orange wire with a dark blue stripe ?

The next notation is a double 'Citroen' chevron with '8' on one side & C103 on the other. Do the chevrons mean a connector ?

The line then becomes Y42 18 OR/DB (drops to 18 gauge ?) and goes into another double chevron (24) which seems to link across to (11) C107 connector on the 12v input (DB/WT - Dark Blue / White) to the Wastegate solenoid. What's that all about ?

The wiring from the wastegate solenoid goes under the coolant header tank then appears to go through the bulkhead behind the dash.

I think you have answered your own question?
The chevrons are connectors. The connector numbers are in bold font. Elsewhere in the manual it has connector diagrams where you can look up the pin locations in each plug.

Thanks for the explanations RTB. I'll save those off for future ref.

I was making some assumptions but wanted to check before I did something stupid.

I have a break in the Y42 circuit and was unsure what the connections 24 & 20 meant. RTB's explanation is that they are just sharing a junction block. I'm not sure why the wire would change from 20 gauge to 18 but I don't suppose it's crucial.

Anyone know where Connectors C103, C106 & C107 live ? I fear they may be somewhere behind the dashboard.

If I can't find them I was planning to put in a new wire and splice into pin 76 at the ECM and pin 2 of the solenoid.

I've had to do this twice before with the R/F brake sensor and the horn circuit. It was a lot easier than pulling the dash out.

Here are the locations. There are figure numbers on the right which refer to images in the manual showing the actual location graphically.

If you are sure you have 12v going to the solenoid supply on pin one of the solenoid, then I would be inclined to cut your wire at both ends and run a new one as you have suggested. Been a lot of vibration on the wiring of a 20 year old car, especially considering much of it isn't protected or supported all that well.
