Noise from Aircon Clutch?? help

hey all,

the Jeep (Diesel) has been making noises and we have initially thought it was the aircon compressor ($600+gst for exchange FYI). Last night we had a bit more of a look and its basically the aircon 'clutch' that is making the noise. Seems like its loose on its axis or something of that sort...

Has anyone had this issue? how did you fix it and how much did it cost? possible part numbers and $?? i believe both petrol and diesel are very similar?

many many thanks in advance...

Mike

ps: Rodgebone thanks heaps for the initial spotting its somewhere around the aircon system.

Does your aircon still push out cold air? Myne doesn't and think it just needs regassing but maybe I have the same problem?

jm auto air has
compressors cost $275 delivered

Yep - sounds like the nose bearing has gone, take it to JM Auto to fix or replace. Happy days. Petrol and diesel AC comps are the same except the diesel has an adaptor on the front of it because it runs off the power steering pump.

still works... just makes noise... we lied under the car yesterday with a lamp and turned the motor/aircon on and saw that every now and then it vibrates and when it does it makes that noise...

is there a company like JM Auto Air but in Perth? Murray - can you recommend someone?

yeah, what Mountainman said. Mine went bang when I first bought it and very very lucky it was under warranty as it did about $3000 worth of damage on the way down.... don't go dealership and as murray stated, local dude in WA does them. Will be much cheaper.
