I don't know about a 2008 2 dr Rubi but I have a 2015 2 dr Sport and when almost empty I fill up to around 65L. So I think 53L is about the right amount when the low fuel indicator comes on.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still keen on going down the roof top tent path so will likely go with some rack. Great suggestion on the water bladders, will look into it.
