The computer will say NO, and generate a check engine light. You need to fool the ECU into thinking the EGR system is still working, very cheap and easy mod to do.

I removed the venturi and welded up the hole, I also found a welsh plug of the right size to plug the hole below the EGR valve. A little bit of overkill perhaps but I've not had any problems.

All good here too, no issues to report. Best thing is the level of smoke out the exhaust is almost zero after doing the mod.

I can't say economy is any better, probably about the same.

I've done the mod and so far I'm happy with the results. It did take a while for the ECU to learn about the changes but it seems to be getting better every day of driving.
