Its the same for my XJ diesel. The towing capacity is only 1400 kg but the petrol model is around 2300 kg. Same brakes and body. I figure it must be warranty related.

Thanks will do. Most of the oil is where you mention at the intercooler though the braided cover gets covered with oil/dirt after about 6 months along most of the lower half.
