Well if you've just bought it why not verify everything is working correctly first? Ensure the clutch is ok (most likely not), ensure that the system is clean, chemical flush, reverse flushed etc...

I didn't look into too much, just looked at the diagram but the switch for the high-range and low-range is a rather "unusual" arrangement, so yes maybe a transistor connected to the lamp feed will do...

As yours is an OBD2 vehicle the belt length I found to work with the AC still connected is a 6pk2135.

If you were running an OBD1 then you can just use the original belt.

I did notice the change but to be honest it was with my old OBD1 engine which was down on compression compared to my OBD2 engine.
There is a difference in response and I have gottent the best...
