Good point Yom, but I'm after something a little more aggressive in the tread department and there doesn't seem to be any MT in 255/75/17 (I'll be very interested to stand corrected on this). The 255/80 is 845mm dia (33.3") the closest I can see in 17" is either a 285 or a 305, both of which are slightly smaller diameter and come with the rubbing problems that everyone has mentioned. A wider tyre doesn't really interest me, I don't run in sand and I had a good run on 7.50/16s on my troopcarrier for over 10 years. What I'd really like is the tallest tyre possible that will fit on the standard rim and not stick outside the guards.
