Pretty much guarantee that is going to happen to any vehicle that has things bolted to side body panels as the metals pretty thin along there. Whether the Rubi rails would of faired any better is too hard to say unless you saw it happen. They might have just flexed and touched the panel as they are only bolted to the floorpan rather than side body panels so wouldn't have excerted direct force on the panels like the ones depicted. As I said I have whacked mine hard and apart from the rail brackets themselves bending they have coped well(slid off rocks and had both passenger side wheels dangling). Yes there are better sliders out there but for there design purpose they are not too bad if they come with the vehicle use them. If they don't maybe look elsewhere for something a little bit better value for money.
