An interesting post, I've seen this quite a few times and each time the cam chains have been a tooth out advanced (after someone had done the timing chains), its a common stuff up on the 4.7lt, to be fair doing the three chains is tricky.
The tell tale signs are as the original poster mentioned, blowing ASD fuse, only running on high rpm, numerous coil fault errors, only running with TPS disconnected.
As I always say... get back to the basics of physically checking valve timing, No1 piston at TDC no load on the rockers.
