If I recall correctly, CLR mentioned either on the bottle or on their website, that it is NOT for automotive/radiator use. I've got a bottle somewhere in the garage, so could have a look.
Having said this, there are plenty of people stating they used it without issues.
Guess its your call.
I have never flushed with anything else then water, but then again, my coolant always has looked green so didn't feel the need to flush with anything else...
