Tyre wise, you shouldn't have any problem clearing tyres up to 35". If you are going with stock rims, you'll probably need spacers for anything wider than 275. Also don't the stock tyre carrier can at most hold a 33" tyre and you will need extender for it. It's better to think about rims and tyre carrier at same time if you want to go big.
Plenty of people run 285s on stock rims without spacers, myself included. You may get some rub at full lock. I can also fit my spare without a needing an extender. It's snug, but it fits.
