Following on from
Milky01's effort, I added the 6.8uF non-polar caps to the front tweeters. What a difference!
Cost: $4.50 from Jaycar.
I left in the original 3.3uF & put these in parallel for a total 10uF. As per the calculator here,
http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=1 , the crossover frequency is now ~4.8kHz instead of 14.6kHz.
