Back bearing is easiest to replace.
Normally would recommend doing both & brushes. With the belt off you can feel how gravely the bearings are. if the WD40 is doing the job you may be able to get some spray lube into it. My biggest concern is that the back bearing may be seized & its running in the housing. if this is the case, change over alt is only solution.
