The factory style tow bar is not a good recovery point.....it attaches only at the centre of the crossmember, which is the actually the weakest place for the stress of a recovery.
Yes, I know people use it for recovering, but its not designed to do that.
If you want a stock style tow bar, and retain the plastic bumper, get a set of BlackJack Engineering rear recovery points...these are heavy duty (very) steel plates that bolt to each chassis rail and poke through slots you cut in the plastic bumper.
I run a Smittybilt XRC Atlas rear bar/carrier combo, which has the tow bar built in....this steel bar bolts to both chassis rails and the centre of the crossmember where the tow bar normally bolts to.....with the extra strength of the rear bar being integral to the tow bar, I'd have no problem using this as a recovery point if needed.
