Engineering and the like aside, you put different offset wheels on so that your tyres will clear, and then you want to narrow the track, shorten the axle housing length to bring them in to foul stuff again?????!!!!
You know, you can build or modify a Dana diff pretty much any width you want. The supply of inner axles to suit your length is the catch.(Not much of a problem in the USA though.)
That is the beauty of round tubes with seals on the diff end of them. Pretty much designed to buggerizing around with. Just weld things on where you want them.
