Then it was off to visit the historic Whaling Station & the ANZAC Memorial.
The whaling station was interesting but for someone who grew up in the age of protecting the whales, some of it was confronting and eye opening. One photo showed a union meeting (of whalers) to take about the closure due to the protection of whales. In my nieavity i never thought about those employed and or their families when the industry was shut down. But it was interesting and worth a look (family pass $66)
The ANZAC Memorial was amazing and incredibly well done. Interactive cards that told stories of a number of ANZAC's as well as an English & Turkish officer. You are also issued with interactive pens (with inbuilt speakers). You press the pens on points and they tell you about it etc. Its a must see and very sobering. Even my 8 & 11 year old daughter's thought it was amazing!!
