I've just put aviation structural stainless pop rivets (cherrymax) into our resonator - no futtering and the exhaust sound incabin isn't raspy when you accelerate hard from standstill.

To be clear you could put anything in the holes - worst that will happen ie. with aluminium pop rivets for example would be that they'd blow out after a while. Even self tapping screws would do - thats what I was going to do if pops wouldn't pull up - tho not ideal as I didn't like the idea of them falling out on the road. Stainless screws of proper size should hold ok tho.
