There is always a place, but where that place is will depend on the size of the filter in use. I personally have mine installed up under the rear quarter effectively below the fuel filler as this was the only place my filter would fit and be reasonably easy to maintain.
You just need to use a bit of ingenuity to make something work. Sometimes you also need to be able to fabricate a suitable bracket to make it work.
