On an 05 the power for the fan motor is through fuse 1 (40A) in the PDC. You can just measure across the terminals with the fuse pulled. The multimeter will have it's own high current fuse which will blow if the current is too high for the meter. For that reason, it's best to keep high current through the meter to the minimum you can. It should only take a second or two to see a stable reading. Either set the meter up so you can see it then set the fan on full and use the ignition switch to turn the fan on and off, or turn ignition and fan on and make the circuit using the probes on the fuse socket.
