When I wore a younger man’s clothes I owned a British sports car with wire wheels with centre knockoffs they to were spline drive and notorious for clunking due to spline wear. The fix was a grease that was like chewing gum a few dabs of that stuff fixed all the spline wear noise.
Maybe contact Castrol or shell they may know the name of it.
