It does seem that a lot of the oil recommendations are aimed at colder climates than Australia. After a bit of research on the subject I have opted for Penrite !0w 40 for both my WG 2.7 and WH 3.0 crd. Didnt Jeep change their oil from 5w 30 to 5w 40 for the WK crd due to some engine failures in the USA ?? Anyhow towing a big van in Au in summer with a motor thats done 350,000km needs something better than 30 oil in my opinion. It may even be better to go higher than 40 under these conditions? One of my relations works for William Adams ( who service Caterpillar ) and they use 15w 40 in most stuff. I know we are talking different engines but they are operating in hot conditions at high power levels so may be 40 is the go.??
