AGM should be OK to install as charging voltage will be the same as the standard flooded battery. The only downside is they're a little more expensive.
I've got a Touareg with an AGM and it lasted 9 years (with auto stop function working) and I've just replaced the battery in the WJ at 8 years of age. Look after the battery and they'll generally last pretty well.
