That fuel in the pic at 10k is really black and yet I just changed mine at 48k recently and my fault I missed it yet and only lightest of grey so I knifed it apart and certainly darker the deeper I cut but nothing like your pic. I’m not concerned with the 40k turn around after seeing what I had at 48k. Mind you will not let that happen again. I had a mate with his fuel filters coated in cream and as it turns out ourfuel tanks have a number of top inspection type holes with questionable seals when you look at the images top down. Naturally the day out water crossing resulted in the fuel tank copping with muddy crap that the filters caught it all. It does say something about how good the filers are though.
