I know what you mean. I have an ancient, well 1988, TD Pajero LWB I bought as a grey import from Japan 3 years ago. It had done 17k's and has now just done 105ks. It's slow but obscenely reliable, disgracefully economical, is comfortable (much better than the Oz spec ones - all the fruit), LSD, a great set of low range gears - the only thing I'm missing so far is a winch and front locker.

When I heard about the Unlimited I thought "great I can get another Wrangler that I can camp/tour in" - room for swags, an Engel etc, but up at those prices I'm now re-thinking - sure the Paj isn't exciting but with only 100 thou on it and the whole package only owing me about $15k including purchase price...how do I justify $40-something-K? Maybe when I kill the Paj, but not yet...
