Yes the doors do have reinforcements, but all cars well all i have seen with rear tyre carriers all swing sidewards eg patrols, cruisers, so on, the jeeps door struts would fail quicker than they already do. and even then with stronger ones the doors frame isnt the strongest ever. go to yours and push one corner and pull the other i bet it will twist a little.
