Some more research I've done on the parking sensor issues suggests that with luck, they (Jeep) have used a decent parking sensor OEM build and the ultra sonic wave processor has been programmed to remove false alerts. That is, if in the event of heavy rain or certainly snow, the sensors may receive false signals in the form too rapid return of the ultra sonic signal and will filter these out. This may be possibly why taping those sensors interfered with by a nudge bar may just work.
Altering the wiring shouldn't have any effect on the systems sensitivity though. It does suggest that the processor isn't doing a signal count to check that all sensors are functioning though. I might do some more of my own testing on that front.
