Your issue sounds like a blocked fuel filter. Need to replace the canister/element, not the complete filter. Its normal maintenance.
Unless the jeep has been recently fully serviced & everything done properly, that would be the place to start. You could also check for codes. If you dont have a reader, many mechanics will do it or go to supercheap.
