Welcome to the site.
Do you have a 2.5 or 2.8 L CRD?
Manual or automatic?
Where are you located?

First thing you need to do is download the 2003 Jeep KJ Service Manual here...gives you all you need to know and has Wiring Diagrams as well.

However this 2003 Service Manual does not cover the mechanics of our early Export CRDs which have several engine differences to the later models as sold in the USA.

So in addition to this 2003 manual you must definitely download the two documents under "2.5_2.8 export diesel" which covers our engines properly and one document has the CEL codes and what to do about them.

KJ Manuals:http://www.colorado4wheel.com/manuals/Jeep/KJ

The description of how to bleed the Fuel Filter in this manual is correct but fails to mention that you need to pump the plunger until it gets firm and then crack open the 10 mm Brass Nut on the side of the fuel head and close it then repeat the process.

When you replaced the fuel filter did you make sure that the original rubber seal did not remain in place? Failure to remove it can cause air intake.

Fuel supply problems do not always post a CEL. I had a problem with my 2002 2.5 CRD where on a long trip it would grind to a halt. After a few seconds I could start it up again and continue with the problem getting worse.
When I arrived at my destination I went straight to a Mechanic friend of mine who fitted the new Mopar filter which I had under my seat with plans to fit it sometime.

The fact that you have a problem "under load" may mean that a CEL may be posted. These early KJs are difficult to find a code reader to read out CELs as they use a PCI Bus as apposed to the CAN/SCSI Bus used on later KJs.

I drove my KJ into the local Bosch Dealership to have them read the Codes out of my Bosch ECM but they took one look at it and shook their heads.

There is a way to read out the Codes using the "Key" method which has some limitations but is still useful.

Without starting the engine rapidly turn the ignition ON/OFF 4 times.
After the 4th ON action leave the ignition ON.

The Odometer display will display stored codes from the oldest which may be ancient and of no relevance to the newest codes which you need to write down.

The last two digits of the code are sometimes transposed do P0123 can display as P0132 which can confuse you.
Codes are not erased by this method...need the Dealers to erase codes.
Codes are recorded once only so a multiple codes of P0123 will only show once.

I deliberately have caused a code by removing on of the Glow Plug Relays. I use the generated code as my Marker so that any new code shows up after my Marker.

Rob.fer07 here has recently joined and posted problems he has with his 02 2.5 CRD manual.

If you join Lostjeeps.com and go to the "Liberty CRD...love that Torque" section you can see a video he posted of the "key" procedure and you can post your problems there but their CRDs are pretty different to ours!
