Cant comment the the AT980 pattern but I have been running Maxxis Bighorn MT762 in a 30/9.5 15 on my XJ for 70,000 km now and cant fault them. Great wet road grip, fantastic offroad and still have prob another 8 to 10,000km left in them. Yes they are noisy but I'm more just letting you know how happy I've been with the Maxxis tyres. I've even just put a set of the high performance Maxxis I-Pro tyres on my Wifes car and they are also fantastic. I've had Mickey Thompsons, Yokohama's & Pirelli's on the XJ previously and the current Maxxis have out performed all of them on a longevity and value basis.
