Recently bought an 01' XJ with a VM Diesel knowing it needed a head gasket.

Definitely was not aware of the head woes this engine has... C'est la vie. I managed to drive it about 25mins to where I can tear it down and get a better idea of the condition it's in. The drive was uneventful with no overheating or smoke out the pipe. I was feeling good about the project at this point.
Once home I tore into it to find this in CYL #1:

Having sat for only about 30mins before I tore it down this much coolant in there is pretty concerning.
So now I'm looking to know if you guys might have any leads on VM heads here in OZ that aren't like A$500? I'm going to have the heads tested before I even consider putting the thing back together because if they're toast you may well find this jeep listed for parts in the marketplace forum on here haha!
