Though I ended up getting a 1m threaded M14 bar and welding a nut then cut to suit. So depending on the distance required. Works well, added a small steel plate around the bolt hole on the base to give some extra strength / support.

thanks mate . You've given me a great idea to be able to secure the lid i am making for the fridge . i'm trying to come up with ways to be able to utilize the now extra space i have in the spare wheel well but also how to access it easily if i have a fridge in the back . Thinking a split floor with one side bolted down and the other side with a small gas strut
