If it really annoys you in the end you could get one of the below and run it in one of the economy modes. Don't believe the advertising about it making more power etc. All these do is change the signal to the throttle body.

You can prove this by accelerating to say 40km/h, hold it at that with the pedal, then change up the modes in performance mode from 1 up 9 and the car will accelerate. Basically they tell the ecu the pedal is pushed down further than they actually are. Economy mode is opposite. You have to push the pedal further before it will react.
You could run it in economy mode when towing slowly to get some lag in the pedal and that might satisfy you.
I have run one on an amorok for years to solve a different problem with the fly by wire and gear selection coming to a stop. Sort of fixed it but I got used to it.
