I really don't see the point in removing it. When it is inactive, the clutch is disengaged and only the front pulley turns on a bearing. The bearing is a generic A/C bearing, can be purchased for around $30, is an easy DIY install, and lasts around 250,000km. Everything else on the heater seems pretty bullet-proof.

Frankly, removing it looks like a lot of pain for little gain. Plus, you never know when you (or a future owner) might do a trip to the Victorian high country and find it useful.

Just my opinion, and I know not what you were asking for.
