Picked up two 1kg Megafire dry chemical powder fire extinguishers today and have stowed them on either side of the car under the back seat. I selected this style of extinguisher as it fits snugly under the seat with a thick woollen sock around them to stop them rattling etc. They are thick enough not to be able to come forward out from under the seat but can be accessed easily once the back door is opened. They can't move inboard as I have two woollen travel blankets in pouches under there as well.
I was pushed to pick up two of them due to one not being sufficient to extinguish a fire in the interior of a poor blokes VW van from an overheated inverter. Fortunately another guy had an extinguisher and finished off the job.
