Thanks Guys, I was looking up Glend's "Diff Trans at Chullora" but couldn't find them....I instead found a guy called Chris under a PO box at Enfield only Ph:0417475869. Turns out he's 30 yrs experience in diffs recently closed up shop and semi retired working for cash from home. He won't do the R&R, just wants to pick up the diff and bring it back ready to install. He sounds nothing but genuine, spending 15mins on the phone with me discussing how to remove the diff best. Said he'd be able to tell me as soon as he sees the diff pretty much what I'll be up for, except for any clutches or plates that may be required for the tracloc...and that he'll call me to give me my options before doing anything.

Anyways, the diff's out now waiting for pickup. My pinion and ring gears look excellent (to me), I'm suspecting they may have been done in the past (they are cast with Dana though so, may well be original). A couple (2/4) of the smaller pinion gears (are these the 'spider' gears) are showing a little more wear, kind of like fine stress fractures or scrathing....a couple of the visible teeth on these two also have some mild pitting in them.

Oh, and looks like I'll need a drivers side axle....mine has severe pitting. Funny that, cause I only had my wheel bearings done recently at the mechanics!?!?....the mechanic said nothing....so I called him, and his excuse was that he checked, and the bearing was not sitting over the damaged area on the axle (reckons he greased up the axle and put it in place and the bearing marked the grease and he could see it wasn't sitting over the damaged area.....can't explain why, said that maybe the axle is from a diff car/diff?!?! Believable? Well I'll be testing it out myself tomorrow and let ya's know.

Cheers
