What do you get when you cross a Jeep TJ Wrangler, a ’66 Jeep CJ Tuxedo Park, and a Jeep JK Wrangler?
What can we really say about this peice of engineering? It's simply stunning and a work of art in the CJ66 from Mopar. Throw into this tri-generational engineering concoction an until-today unconfirmed new powerplant, and you have the Jeep CJ66. That is Mopar’s latest concept Jeep on display for the very first time at the 2016 SEMA Show, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The new engine was upgraded with a Mopar cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust system, helping to feed more power into the six-speed manual transmission. The gear-stuffed logs you see underneath the Copper Canyon-colored body are Mopar Dana 44 Crate axles.
A two-inch suspension lift helps fit 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires wrapped around Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) 17-inch beadlock wheels underneath the oversized “concept” fenders of the CJ66.
The body got even more goodies. Mopar 10th Anniversary Wrangler JK front and rear bumpers, JPP skidplates, and specially trimmed JPP rock rails are fitted to the CJ66.
The concept hood and latches are highlighted with matte black, as are the seven-slot grille and headlight bezels. Mopar LED amber fog lights, a Mopar Warn winch with a fairlead adapter, and a racecar-inspired fuel filler cap complete the exterior adornment.
Passengers are treated to custom Viper seating with concept seat risers, shaded by a bikini-style netting top, and surrounded by a custom mandrel-bent tube roll cage formed to match the windshield that has been cropped by two inches.
The interior is made up of a Wrangler JK center console and shifter, with a custom 50th Anniversary Moab Easter Jeep Safari steering wheel, and Mopar instrument panel gauges. Mopar all-weather floor mats help keep the tub clean and dry.
