Yes I was initially concerned that I couldn't get a socket and wrench attached to the head bolts closest to the firewall. Especially on the exhaust side.

I got myself a deep 15mm socket and this worked but I still had to loosen the cover where the steering column goes through the firewall so I could squeeze the wrench into place.

If you could remove the steering column cover altogether it would make life a hell of a lot easier but that would also require removing the brake booster assembly.

Anyway the head is off now. Next I'll pull the passenger side head (yes both of my exhaust manifolds need to done) which I think should be much easier.
