That may be the experience of some people, and depending on the season that one drives there, flies could be a major problem during the day - and mozzies can also ruin your evenings. They are like shift workers. You can almost see when one species disappears without a trace, and the other species takes over.

Mud and saline goop can also be a problem immediately after the lake has drained and you can be in it up to your knees.

As for campsites, every place is different. This is a place where you need to be prepared with your very own firewood - have to bring it in. But the idea of having a fire and campsite so remotely from the rest of the universe is something that you would get in very few other places.
