Temp sensor or gauge issue.
Hi guys,
Today I had to change my thermostat housing. The replacement had a blanking plug in the section where the temp sensor is mounted. I didn't have an Allen key big enough to remove it so I could install the sensor, so I decided to drive to Bunnings to buy one, without installing the sensor.
Well on the way, the temp gauge was still showing the same temperature it always sits at when warm. It showed cold and then climbed to that point as the engine warmed up. The guage diagnostic showed the gauge functioning normally.
The sensor is now installed.
I'm a little confused as to how the gauge was displaying a temperature when the sensor wasn't attached. Does anyone have a possible explanation?
