FYI just on on the off chance it's not a wheel speed sensor: If for whatever reason your steering wheel isn't aligned (or like my Jeep had too much play because the steering box needed adjustment), it sometimes confugulates the stability control when you go over a bump or through a dip/pothole, probably because the steering wheel position doesn't match what the ECU is reading from the wheel speed sensors.

Even though the stability control light stays on after it's activated, I have to switch ESP off manually to stop it from intervening again. The first time it happened scared the crap out of me because of the noise from the brakes and the Jeep pulling to one side but I became so used to it that I habitually switched off ESP on start-up.
