This always confuses me... to me the KL and the XJ very much fit the same design brief - but with a few decades between them. Both:
- Offer genuine off road ability in a compact package (they’re not Wranglers, but they’re far from useless)
- Pissed off people who thought the old model was better and this new one was going to destroy the brand.
- Are compact and lightweight(ish)
- Will tow more than anything of similar size
- Have great road manners when weighed up against off road ability.
- Are unibody construction
- Are products of American-Euro partnerships
If you look past the fact the KL reflects an extra 30 years of automotive evolution/features/tech, I honestly think there’s more similarities than differences between the two...
