Just do the key trick and then to clear codes disconnect battery for 15mins or so.
Key trick : You don't need a scanner to read your '05 codes, it can read its own and display them on the odometer display. Turn your igntion switch on-off-on three times within five seconds and then leave the key in the On position so the diagnostic routine can run. Within a few seconds any DTC (diagostic trouble code) codes found will begin to display on the odometer. Give it a few seconds, they don't display immediately. Then google what the code means. It does just as much as a scanner but it’s free.
